Ettinger, Akiva Yaakov
(1872-1945)
   Zionist leader of Belorussian origin. He went to London as an adviser on settlement matters during the negotia-tions over the Balfour Declaration. He settled in Palestine in 1918 and served as director of the agricultural settlement department of the Jewish National Fund until 1924. From 1924 to 1932 he played a prominent role in the purchase of land and the drafting and implementation of Jewish settlement plans. He wrote many articles on agriculture and settlement in Palestine.
